The OS is as you call it a single shared image (well, rather multiple
shared packages resulting in one common directory tree for all clients).

There will also be some space for permanent user home dirs if you go
for individual user logins. Depending on what those users do, you could
end up using some space...

But you could also choose not to offer permanent home dirs (either as
kiosk mode or simply no NFS home dir, but I am not completely sure
right at the moment how easy configuration for that mode is, Martin
might shed some light at this topic).
