Hi Martin, I just did a quickie test of the localboot package without success.
The script seemed to run to completion and without errors. I say 'seemed' because I don't understand German and the script output is in German. Upon reboot, there is a GRUB menu and the system attempts to boot locally. However it gets to a certain point (just after it runs /scripts/nfs-premount) and stops with no obvious error messages. X never starts. The problem, I think, is _after_ the nfs-premount script as it says "Done." Please note: It DID successfully boot X exactly ONCE, so it must be close... I would love to help troubleshoot this package as I think it will fill a necessary niche. I might be of more assistance if it were in English...sorry.
