I'm having trouble with hp 1020 also. What I do is configure an static ip addr (via reservation in dhcp) to the client, then install printer with standard tcpip port in windows, wich of course points to the reserved ip.
The configuration of the client must have a device called printserver:usb. I've managed to configure hp 1022, 1320, and some others, but specifically with 1020 does no print, althought I see activity on port 9100, it seems that data does not get send to usb. :( I've added also a firefox to the client, and opened http://localhost:631 to interface with cups. Added printer correctly, with ppd, etc..., but test page does not print at all. I've seen on some forums, that for this specific printer you must install driver from HP. I've managed to compile driver on OTC server, and my intention is to get that files from server, put them into a tar in root/custom, so this way the client would download this driver and maybe "use it". I'm not so an expert to do this, (don't know which files to copy and where), and even know if this would work so if there's someone wich could point to the right direction..... I'm trying to do this with another calibration program for a evtouch touch screen, (I can't get correct values to configure a touchscreen, ): compile on server, and execute on client (I think that if kernel is similar and it doesn't need extra modules, it should work).
