I have a pairing of IBM Netvista's with i865 chipsets and Acer x223w (22"
1680x1050) monitors. I'm considering my "testing" system to be known good
as it functions normally under newer distributions "intel" xorg driver.
TCOS 1.0.0 would not run the monitor at a proper resolution, even when
given a good mode string. I pulled packages for "915resolution" and (what
seems to be an updated "xorg-driver-i810" from what appeared to be a
backport repository. With these installed, the system will sometimes use
the correct resolution. Generally after boot (before login) I can zap
(ctrl-alt-backspace) X a few times and the system will snap into 1680x1050
on one of the X reloads. I have had it boot directly to the proper
resolution one time - so it seems to be semi random.
Has anyone else seen similar behavior with TCOS or any other distro? If
so, how did you deal with it?
Thanks for any help or information,
Will
