Hi, Everyone
I'm working on making my OTC installation more functional than it is now. It's
currently pretty jerry-rigged, and I'd love to make it better.
To start, here's where I'm at: I have the openthinclient-server that is
available for download as a virtual appliance. I needed something to get up and
running fast, so I went for that. The heart and soul of it is to point towards
a Windows Terminal Services server, right away. For almost all users, this is
all that they need.
There are a couple other groups of people ("Profiles"?) that will need
something else, though, and will have to operate on the same thinclients. I've
got a few different groups: OTCUsers, OTCAdmins, OTCCompass (for some testing),
OTCStudents, and OTCEvergreen (library catalog browser). I've created all the
applications that I need, put those into separate application groups based on
user group, and mapped them all to the correct user groups.
The issue I'm having is that when a user from any group logs in, it also throws
all the other applications at them, as well. Ideally, I want a user, who will
fit into one of the previously-mentioned groups, to log in and get only the
applications for that group. What's the best way to go about doing this? What
level should the permissions be set at: application, application group,
thinclient?
Thanks, everybody!
