Hi All,
We are using Thinclients created in OpenThinClient to access a pool of
Windows 7 VDIs.
We are having severe performance problems on these machines when we attempt to
play Flash content. According to the System Monitor in OpenThinClient, the
CPU usage of Vmware View-tunnel seems to erratically spike (at times, it
reaches 90%) and then falls off again, spikes and falls off etc. (please see
image attached of Vmware View-tunnel when it's 'low'). According to the
graphs, our memory and CPU are practically maxed out (although, the CPU and
memory usage graphs don't always tally with what the processes list is telling
us - e.g. the graphs might say that we're maxed out but in the processes list,
the highest consumer of CPU might only have a value of 7%). Our OTC graphs
certainly suggest that we're getting hit with heavy CPU and Network usage
(please see second image attached) and these correspond with the performance
issues. We only see this issue when using OpenThinClient with Vmware view - we
don't see the issue if we log in normally on a laptop, install the Vmware View
Local version (which runs in Windows) and use it to access the VMs. In other
words, I believe that it's some component in OpenThinClient which is causing
erratic CPU and Network usage. We have tried this with SSL disabled and gotten
the same result.
Can you tell me what Vmware View-tunnel does, would it have anything to do with
transmitting Flash content and if you have ever seen an issue before when
playing Flash content from a Thinclient to a VDI?
