Turned out to be default programming in the scanners. Apparently, not all
barcode/HID type devices work out of the box with Linux RDP clients!
However, there are programmatic changes that can be done to make them work.

Subject: [openthinclient-user] Odd behaviour for HID (scanner)

Hi guys,

I'm getting very odd behavior from a USB handheld scanner when using
OpenThinClient. Here's the symptoms:

- When using a scanner (basically, an HID) in Firefox on the OTC
desktop, it always works

- When using a scanner in Remote Desktop, it sometimes
(unpredictably) drops characters

- We have tried multiple Terminal Servers (2003, 2008R2)

- We have tried multiple RDP clients (rdesktop, 1.6, 1.7 and
FreeRDP)

- We have tried multiple thin client hardware devices

- When using the SAME scanner and SAME terminal server on a "real"
(Windows) workstation, it also always works

Has anyone experienced these types of issues? It seems to be RDP related
and not OS related since it works find in Firefox on the local thin OS.

Are there kernel parameters that need to be passed to use non-keyboard or
mouse HID's (i.e. scanners)?

Thanks in advance!

David
