Hello to everyone,
I am at the moment testing openthinclient in kiosk mode. My current setup
is as follows and if all goes well it will be used by 300+ users.
1- openthinclient server installed on windows 2003 machine on the same vlan
as the thin clients to reduce pxe boot traffic to a single vlan
2- the applications assigned to the thin client are "Desktop" and "Rdesktop
RDP Client (SVN)". The desktop application is used to work in kiosk mode
while the SVN to have each user connect to a separate VM with the VM IP
entered at the Server address option in the SVN properties.
The issue I am facing is this I can successfully boot and have the thin
client in kiosk mode but when the RDP session initiates the cursor and
sometimes the background are:
a- for the mouse pointer it is displayed totally white
b- the desktop black (the desktop issue is not always happening so at the
moment I do not need to tackle that).
rdesktop can take some options like -x 080 (in the rdesktop properties
window on the openthinclient manager) which will enhance the experience as
being that of a LAN connection which enhances the visual effects and in
fact it does for most of the items on screen but not for the mouse
unfortunately. What puzzles me more here is that if instead I remove the
rdesktop application and add the X-Terminal and I launch the client with
the following option (xterm `rdesktop -f -x 080 <IP>` everything works well
and I have no issue whatsoever.
Has anyone had this behavior before and why is there a difference between
launching rdesktop from the xterm different than running it from the
openthinclient manager
Thanks and hope I will receive at least a reply from someone with some help
cause I have no more options to try to fix this one
Regards
Luke
