Penny,
There's probably a couple things going on here.
On the XP box you have to go into the BIOS setup and enable PXE booting,
then change the boot order to boot from the NIC first.
Then make sure you don't have a firewall running on the box where the
openthinclient server is running, or at least be sure you open the
necessary ports to allow clients to communicate with it. I found that the
documentation on the OTC site to be lacking on this subject, as there are
additional ports required beyond what is listed there that may be unique
for each installation.
Be sure to read as much of the documentation that's available in the OTC
site as you can. It's not 100% thorough but it will take you a good portion
of the way there.
