I am new to openthinclient and this user list. I am in need of assistance with
properly configuring the client OS loading process. The information I need does
not appear included in the support wiki:
Background........
+ I installed the server on Windows Server 2008 R2 (64 bit), and I was finally
able to get the server manager application running after removing java v. 7.25
64 & 32bit with the last v. 6.45 32 bit
+ I changed the manager application shortcut target to the 32 bit javaws.exe
path as described in the support wiki for installing on Windows 7 & Windows
Server 2008 R2
+ I have opened inbound TCP & UDP ports in the Windows firewall on the server
as identified in the openthinclientadvisor application
+ Manager is working nicely and I can add ThinClients from the PXE Client list
+ ThinClient gets DHCP reserved IP address just fine; nothing special for PXE
booting set on the Windows DHCP server
+ Appears the openthinclient environment handles everything with PXE booting
and no special settings need be configured in DHCP server according to support
documentation and threads on this user list
Problem.......
+ Client boots via PXE fine to start the openthinclient OS shell... but
ultimately fails
+ The client OS loading stalls after completing the /scrpits/nfs-premount
+ Next lines report:
+ "mount: RPC: timed out"
+ "mount: nfsmount failed: bad file descriptor"
+ "mount: mounting 192.168.99.99:/openthinclient on /root failed: Invalid
argument
The 192.168.99.99 IP address is not my real server address but just an example
Such an RPC time out error strikes me as a file path or sharing error of some
sort
I am guessing the default path to the boot file is incorrect as
"192.168.99.99:/openthinclient" reflecting what I think is the Boot Options -
NFS share setting "\openthinclient"
Since I am using Windows 2008 R2 64bit , should the NFS share be set to
"Program Files/openthinclient" instead?
If so, where do I change this?
What are the correct Boot Options settings anyway?
Thank you,
Frank
