We had the same behavior where freerdp was just black but the terminal
server showed the session as connected.

specfying a full screen res connects and displays properly, but it is still
windowed with the tcos menu bar on top.

ill try that. also, it appears i was wrong about the seg fault. if i run the
following from the terminal, freerdp seems to log in correctly. however, i
still see the desktop and not the fullscreen freerdp window. but if i check
the terminal server farm, my session is connected. the terminal window sits
there withought rturning a prompt until i logoff my session. so its working
behind the scenes, its just not displaying in tcos properly. here is the
command i run:

./freerdp /sec:rdp /d:domain /u:user /p:password /f /v:server.

ill try dropping the /f and specifying my res.

I'm assuming that you're trying to use the full screen command in the
config. Instead of doing that set full screen to no and then set the
resolution to what you're trying to match. We've had some success with
that.

derek,

thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately rdesktop does not support
connecting to a terminal server farm. if session gets redirected, users have
to enter in their credentials twice, which will not work for us. any other
thoughts?

thanks again for your time,

You might try using rdesktop instead of freerdp. We've had all sorts of
problems trying to get freerdp to work correctly in this release. I believe
it mostly has to do with the video resolutions matching up.

hello,

i spoke too soon :(

when i try to run freerdp in fullscreen mode, i get a spinning cursor for
about 5 seconds, and then nothing. if i run it from the commandline
specifying fullscreen, i get a segmentation fault. i have upgraded all tcos
packages, to no avail. any thoughts?

derek,

thanks a lot for the pointer! worked like a charm.

couple quick questions: should update the other packages that have upgrades
available? also, if i need to roll back an update, is that possible?

thanks again!

Hi Chris, the first thing I would check is which version of open thin client
you're running. If you installed open client from the downloadable jar
you're probably on one of the older versions. You can check by going to
Package Management > Installed packages. If the base isn't 1.0.0-9 or
greater you'll need to upgrade. To do that

Add this line:

# Experimental

deb http://archive.openthinclient.org/openthinclient/v1/manager-experimental
./

to this file:

c:\Program
Files\openthinclient\server\default\data\nfs\root\etc\sources.list

You may also want to comment out the testing repository. We tried using
1.0.0-11 and had problems with it.

Then right click on Package Management and select search for updates. When
that's done restart the openthinclient service and check the installable
packages and the updatable packages for a new base.

Subject: [openthinclient-user] freerdp package

hello,

first of all, if there are any devs reading this, thanks for your hardwork!
openthinclient seems like an amazing product. my large (500 employees)
nonprofit is trying to find a better solution then thinstation, as package
management and profile management is a mess with thinstation.

i am up and running with openthinclient, testing on a wyse vx0. i am trying
to get freerdp to work, as rdesktop cannot handle connecting to a
loadbalanced r2 farm (i have updated the package, but it fails at any
redirection from the farm). i have the freerdp package installed, but trying
to use the icon created does not work. after running it, i am let with a
busy cursor for about 5 secs before i am dropped right back into the
desktop. if i try to run xfreerdp from the command line, i get dependency
errors. these can be fixed by adding four paths to LD_LIBRARY_PATH, but then
i get very buggy behavior. i can connect to a 2003 machine, but trying to
connect to the loadbalanced farm results in segfaults.

does anyone have a working freerdp package up and running, hopefully without
having to export LD_LIBRARY_PATH before running?

thanks for your time,

chris
