Please post a log of pcscd to the list:

- stop the service with "sudo service pcscd stop"
- start it in debug mode: "sudo pcscd -d -f"

I have the package *_Smart Card Lite_* installed.
After that, i have added the device to the Thin Client (as Smart Card Reader Modell= « Generic »)
Whit the old version, the card Reader was autoamtically detectet by the system and it worked directly whit RDESKTOP. 

*_SmardCard Reader Modell=_*Gemalto PC USB TR + PC Twin  (ID Brdige CT30)
All users must worked whit this Reader in Online Banking and all worked fine after the update L

which version of the smartcard package is installed?
