Dennis,

Try copying large blocks of data, and you'll see the problem with USB2.0.  
Firewire is the only interface of this type that seems to work very well.  Drives with 
Firewire interfaces feel as fast as ones parallel connected, although I have not run 
any tests.  I can say that copying many gigabytes of data with a USB2.0 interface 
takes 4-5+ times as long as a the same drive using the firewire interface.
USB still doesn't have their act together compared to firewire.
