Hello,

the OpenVAS team is happy announce that several
installation packages are now available for
OpenVAS-Client and the OpenVAS Server:

OpenSUSE 10.2: Client and Server
Fedora 8: Client and Server
Windows (tested with XP SP2): Client
Debian: Client, Server is in progress
Gentoo: Client and Server

Installer for Windows, OpenSUSE and Fedora
are downloadable from the usual download site:

  http://wald.intevation.org/frs/?group_id=29

Hints on the installation packages are provided here:

  http://www.openvas.org/openvas-client.html
  http://www.openvas.org/openvas-server.html

The Server packages for OpenSUSE and Fedora
are currently kept simple (no start-stop daemon or
cron entry) but can be extended upon need.
Not at least, so-called RPM-spec files are now
available, so adaption for further RPM-based GNU/Linux
systems or other revisions of OpenSUSE/Fedora
should be fairly simple.
In fact our hope is that the major GNU/Linux
distributions will eventually pick up OpenVAS
as a standard package.

In case you are planning to create packages for
further platforms/revisions, you are welcome to discuss and share at
the openvas-disto mailing list:

Best regards

        Jan-Oliver Wagner
