I'm working with kile myself, so maybe I am able to help you there. The only issue I had with kile so far is that the "LaTeX" Button fails with a fresh checkout since the eps versions of the images are not in der SVN, but are generated on demand from the png files. A "make dvi" will generate the images needed, the "LaTeX" button should work now. Does that solve your problem?
