Hello OpenVAS developers,

I hope you all arrived well in the year 2010.

At least OpenVAS did for sure with the new 3.0 release ;-)
So far no PR work was done as we waited for the early
adopters first. I am not aware of any critical problem
with 3.0 and it is even packaged for some platforms.

This year will, again, being an exciting year for OpenVAS:

The optional openvas-manager and gsa (pretty silently)
reached beta phase this week. By summer of this year
this should be a huge step forward for the whole tool chain
-- as discussed on the DevCon 2009.

The next generation of OpenVAS (4.0?) will undergo
another set of fundamental changes and hoperfully
be finished this year. Stripping it down to the essential
task of scanning is a major goal.

Also, I am thinking of a additional client, qt-based, only
using OMP and thus very light and portable.

I got a fully re-designed new OpenVAS homepage here.
I still have to review it, and can put it online, perhaps step by step.

The OpenVAS Feed likely will cross the number of 20.000 NVTs in 2010.
Maybe we reach even 25.000.

And finally of course, after the great success of OpenVAS DevCon 2009,
we should have a OpenVAS DevCon 2010!
The earlier we start discussion about the conference the better.
Expectations, organisation, place and date are open for suggestions.

All the best

        Jan
