Hello,
to keep a bi-annual scheme, 2011 is the year for
OpenVAS Developer Conference #3.
I would like to start discussion on date/place/aims
here and get to know how many developers we can gather.
I'd be happy to invite everyone to come to Osnabrück
where DevCon#1 and DevCon#2 happened.
As for the date I think it should be June/July/August,
at least if it takes place in Germany for wheather reason.
How many days should the DevCon last?
Should we have a slot of presentations of cool developements/
applications/use-cases of OpenVAS? I could imagine the MetaSploit
Interface by Kost, some Report Formats integration like Sourcefire
etc.
Also, I hope this time we someone of Nmap and/or other releated
projects to join us as we interface a lot on technical level
already. Also, I'd love to meet our primary packagers as
they are signfificant contributors.
Plenty of topics we can discuss. Proposal collections starts
right now! ;-)
Some main tracks I could imagine:
* Security
- anything that improves security (technologies, processes, designs,
in-depth pentesting) of the OpenVAS framework
* Interfacing
- which tools we interface already as consumer, as provider?
- are there inconsistencuies? could this be streamlined?
* Technology/Architecture
- Designing OSP (OpenVAS Scanning Protocol) to replace OTP.
- How integrate SCAP standards and which ones?
- What are the next major trends? Do have to follow them?
Where to be in 2013?
As for the Greenbone team, Matt, Michael and myself will definitely
participate.
