in 2005 I've sent this comment to the openvas-discuss mailing list:

Since we now have indeed "another daemon", called openvasmd,
and even the web-based client, called gsa, I would like to finally
remove the broken concept of the session saving feature.
I can prepare a Change Request for this.
However, prior to writing down details I would like to ask whether
any user or developer has concerns about removing this from
the scanner and add a comparable functionality to the manager?
