I ran into this problem earlier, it seems the connection process is different...
Do you notice a new item called "Manager" in the client when you start it
up now that you have compiled with "--enable-omp"???
>From the "Manager" drop down menu, select "new", then ensure you have your
credentials right and also ensure you supply the correct port you specified
openvasmd to start listening on...
This seemed to work for me...

[Openvas-discuss] client can not
connect to manager?
03/15/2010 12:42

Hi,
according to this picture
<http://www.greenbone.net/img/component_architecture.png> the client
seams to be able to connect to openvas-manager.
I'v compiled openvas-client using
./configure --enable-omp
but I still can not change the protocol type in the preferences. And
when connection to openvas-manager, I get this error: "Unable to
establish a connection to the remote host using the specified protocol
version!"
What am I doing wrong?
