As long as the CHANGES dont hint you otherwise, these updates should go smooth 
even without removing your data.
Its a good idea though to backup your data. Also, consider to run "make 
uninstall" or "make distclean".

I am not aware of any change that could have caused that, but I might miss 
something. Please keep informing us if such problems occur in the future.
