Good Evening,

Many users seem to be having problems with libgnutls on some of the
most up to date distributions (such as Ubuntu 12.04).

It is a problem that eats up time when troubleshooting as the error
messages are not clear and all appears to be working ok, apart from
being unable to authenticate with the OpenVAS manager (process hangs
for up to 10mins while trying to authenticate).

For those trying to get this working on Ubuntu 12.04 I have put
together a guide that includes a hack to remove the current libgnutls
and install an older version from Ubuntu 11.10.

http://hackertarget.com/install-openvas-5-in-ubuntu-12-04/

If anyone can suggest a cleaner way to do this, I would be happy to
update the guide.

Would it be a good idea to have the openvas-check script test for a
supported version of libgnutls and warn if not present?

Regards,

Peter
