when you compile the packages on Debian from source the startup scripts are
not provided. No one has packaged OpenVAS 6 for Debian/Ubuntu yet as far as
I know.

Once compiled you can start the services as follows from commandline:

- The scanner by running 'openvassd',
- the administrator 'openvasad',
- the manager 'openvasmd' and
- Greenbone Security Assistant (GSA) by running 'gsad –http-only
–listen=[your IP] -p 9392'
