You have to really check if the "DIRB (NASL Wrapper)" is not checked since no other script will launch dirb. In a "full and fast" default config almost all "Web application abuses" plugins (and with it the dirb plugin) are selected. Beware that this is not the "Select all NVT's" which is not checked in "full and fast".
