OpenVAS is a general vulnerability scanner. IIUC you actually want only
a web application scanner to run on some sub-part of a web portal?

You could use web applications scanners for this and set the URL seed
to the respective page. If you managed to install OpenVAS with w3af, you may
configure w3af via OpenVAS to do so. But if that is the only scan you want
to run you also just run w3af natively.
