I am using the latest openvas scanner and manager from trunk as well as the latest plugins update.
I create my own scan template. I deselect all the scanner except NMAP wrapper because I do not want to ping the hosts and I do not want to run any other scanner. When I monitor the scan, I can see that Nmap is not running and simple tcp scanner is port scanning instead. How is that possible if I disable it. Is there any plugin currently that has the simple TCP scanner as a dependency. Is this because silent dependencies option is enabled? Another question. What is the difference between the Nmap wrapper scanner and the "Launch Nmap for network scan" plugins? Why are there two plugins to perform an Nmap scan? BTW most of the times these plugin do not work. Do they need a specific version of Nmap? Why if I select let's say "All privileged TCP" port list, Nmap scan for both TCP and UDP all the time? Thanks.
