Hi list, I'm completely new to OpenVAS, but I have searched with Google (I didn't see an archive search option for the mailing list itself). Looking through the source code, and viewing configuration variables in the OpenVAS GUI and Help, it looks like there are several possible ways to control this, but it's not really obvious.
I'll be using this to scan AWS EC2 instances. I don't want to beat up my instances badly, so I want the scan to be e.g. in nmap -T terms 'polite'. What's a convenience/ straightforward way to set OpenVAS to be 'polite'? I'm comfortable editing config files if need be, or using the GUI of course. Just need to know where to go and, if there aren't mnemonic possibilities like the word 'polite', then some reasonable value to choose. thanks, Jay
