Yeah, this is exactly the sort of thing I had in mind.  I just discovered
that when you install from source with cmake .., _everything_ goes under
/usr/local, including files under /usr/local/var/{lib,cache}/openvas.  Is
there a way to configure the makefiles to use different prefixes for
different directories, or do I have to just make symlinks from e.g.
/usr/local/var to /var?
