Credit goes to Reindl Harald for giving me the info regarding /var/lib/openvas/* I did do an initial OpenVAS install, choosing Ubuntu Server 14.x because I encountered issues with updates via yum when using CentOS. After the install, I went to the old scanner, tarred /var/lib/openvas, got it to the new scanner, untarred the file, replacing the entire openvas directory (and subdirs), restarted the new computer and there it was.

Also, did you need to do anything after copying the files over, such as restarting the services? Seems like this would make a great wiki entry... :) thanks!
