OK Thanks, So I did this:
omp -h 127.0.0.1 -u admin -w my_password --xml='
<create_task>
<name>Site Name</name>
<comment>Site VLAN</comment>
<config id="daba56c8-73ec-11df-a475-002264764cea"/>
<target id="my_task_id"/>
<preferences>
<preference>
<scanner_name>max_checks</scanner_name>
<value>6</value>
</preference>
<preference>
<scanner_name>max_hosts</scanner_name>
<value>25</value>
</preference>
<preference>
</create_task>'
Now the command works, but the values are not changed accordingly. It's still
the default value (10 and 30 in my case).
I am confused by the <scanner_name> being a "Compact name of preference, from
scanner."
Any clarification there would be nice.
Thanks !

There's no NAME in PREFERENCES/PREFERENCE, just SCANNER_NAME.
