I am running:

nmap-5.51
openvas-libraries-8.0.7
openvas-manager-6.0.8
openvas-scanner-5.0.5

I think back then, these were the latest versions but I see there are newer
versions now.
"never" as in openvassd nasl jobs running for 15+ minutes. I also noticed that
while only for example 5 tests should be running, new ones were being spawned
resulting in a system load of 50+ instead of a regular 5 to 8 on a 4 core
machine.
I think I know which scan task will cause this to happen (or which target
machine rather) but currently a lot of scheduled jobs are doing their rounds
the coming days which I do not want to interrupt.
I'll get back on this when I run in to the problem again but I might also
upgrade the software before that which might resolve it.

What means "never" for you?

Are you running the latest patch level?
