I meant to open the .pem file with a text editor, move the cusror to the end of the file (After the very last "-----"), then press <Enter>, and save the modifed file. You should then be able to import that new modified file into gsa without generating an error. If you still struggle to have that working, best is to join us via irc on #openvas in OFTC.
