To those who may (or may not) be interested, I've found a solution. I started using OpenVAS in depth after GVM Tools was announced and thus I was still using OMP (becauseI didn't know about GVM Tools). Thank you to Thijs Stuurman for bringing this fact to my attention.
Long story short, the problem described below is limited to OMP. The exact same XML commands I was using, when migrated to GVM Tools, produced repetitive, dependable, and expected results in the form of proper reports being generated. I don't know why OMP refused to produce the reports (<get_reports report_id=x/>) but GVM Tools works like a charm. Thanks again, Thijs. If you are unaware of a solution, can you tell me in which location I might best start to review source code to determine what is going on? It would seem there is a bug in OpenVAS and I need to find it. Thank you again. I've used XML, I've included details="1", I've turned on logging for openvasmd and use the command it logs, and more and still I can't get past this. I'm almost to the point of looking through source code. Not necessarily requesting a solution so much as any suggestion you have as to how to debug this further would be greatly appreciated. But maybe you mix up a single report (with results) and a list of reports ? The XML you posted looks like the latter and your omp call like the first. Am Mittwoch, 6.
