Hi Jan, What you are saying makes total sense. However, GSD 1.2.1 and GSA which are pre-installed on Backtrack 5 R3 still show the Credentials NVT and the SSH and SMB plug-ins. Moreover, the official OpenVAS guide on how to perform local security checks available here http://www.openvas.org/performing_lsc.html
This problem does not occur in Linux Kali, which has GSD 1.2.2, where the Credentials NVT is no longer visible. Thanks for clarifying things for me. Kind regards, J On Donnerstag, 14. Please let me >know if you know the answer.* Not sure about what you observe on Backtrack. But in general OpenVAS modelled the Credentials separate from the NVTs. At least for SSH and SMB. To avoid confusion, the credential NVTs are made invisible and are only managed by the OpenVAS Manager. So, there is only one way for the user to configure the credentials. -- Dr. Jan-Oliver Wagner | ++49-541-335084-0 | http://www.greenbone.net/ Greenbone Networks GmbH, Neuer Graben 17, 49074 Osnabrück | AG Osnabrück, HR B 202460 Geschäftsführer: Lukas Grunwald, Dr. Jan-Oliver Wagner
