I'm one of the community developers, and I just read through these mails.
This is really concerning - but I'm running OpenVPN on both SL6 and
CentOS5 boxes (something like 4-5 boxes, acting as either client or
server). I have never seen anything like this before. This sounds
like a configuration error - or a bad OpenVPN binary.
However, I do see one thing:
openvpn.x86_64.2.2.2-1.el5.rf
^^---:: this it not from a standard repo
Try using openvpn build from the Fedora EPEL repository:
<http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL>
On one of my CentOS5 boxes, the openvpn version being installed there
is openvpn-2.2.2-1.el5 (without .rf)
And also, please verify the installed RPM package:
[root@host:~] # rpm --verify openvpn
If this results in some errors, then you need to re-install the
OpenVPN package. On success, it doesn't output anything at all.
If the openvpn package verification is good, then send us the output
of these commands:
[root@host:~] # rpm -qi openvpn
[root@host:~] # find /etc/openvpn -type f
