"You will not be able to reach hosts in 172.16.17.0/24 inside the VPN
because your client will send them to the local LAN".
This might be intentional, being part of the VPN setup, or accidential,
as "the hotel I'm in is using the same addresses as my inside office
network".
Which is why the warning is a "may"...
