vpn is for a secure tunnel, not just to go around nat :).
Anyway, ccd is relative to the config dir, but your logs had config in
/etc/config/ and ccd in /etc/openvpn/ccd -- may be that was a typo: a
missing client-config-directory would have caused an error. Still, do check
the path.
Though 2.2.x is old, I had a 2.2.3 setup for a long time and it worked very
well. But it would be prudent to add an extra layer of security using a
tls-auth key as well.
