If you've never done any VPN setups before, you'll have a bit of
learning. And you will need to know a bit how TCP/IP based networks
functions. But it's fun and rewarding though, once you reach your goal!

To get started, have a look at this wiki page:
<https://community.openvpn.net/openvpn/wiki/GettingStartedwithOVPN>

If you need to understand the fundamentals of TCP/IP networking, IBM got
a fairly comprehensive and good Red Book available for free:
<http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redbooks/pdfs/gg243376.pdf>
(especially chapter 3.1 is important to have covered)

Otherwise, a couple of our community members have also written some
books on OpenVPN too:

* OpenVPN 2 Cookbook
<<https://www.packtpub.com/networking-and-servers/openvpn-cookbook-second-edition>
 (First edition is still available, I believe)

* Mastering OpenVPN
<https://www.packtpub.com/networking-and-servers/mastering-openvpn>

Once you have gotten into writing some configuration files and things
begins to somewhat work, then you can get quite good help here on this
ML, on the forums and on the #openvpn IRC channel on FreeNode.
