2.2<->2.4 should be nicely compatible - I do daily tests with a 2.2 client
talking to a git master server and that all works.
iPhone clients (and Android, for that matter) won't work because they do
not support *tap* mode, only tun. So upgrading the server to 2.4 won't
make the iPhone magically work.
