You seem to mix "OpenVPN GUI" (community based open source OpenVPN for
Windows) [1] with "OpenVPN Connect" (OpenVPN Inc provided closed source VPN
client only) [2].

These two are very different.

* OpenVPN GUI is the more traditional version, where you need to get a config
file and save that in the proper directory on the client to get started.

* OpenVPN Connect includes a more seamless integration with OpenVPN Access
Server [3] and OpenVPN Cloud [4], where you provide an appropriate server URL
and user credentials and the VPN client is configured for you. This client
does only support TUN devices (no TAP devices, thus no bridging).

Regardless of the client, it is possible to use OpenVPN GUI with Access Server
and OpenVPN Cloud, as well as using OpenVPN Connect against a most other
OpenVPN based servers and services.
