This depends on where your server is, and what level of access you have
to public IP addresses.
My server is in a datacenter where the operator just routes what I need,
so all I have to do is "add alias IP address"
# ip addr add 192.0.2.1/24 dev eth0
done (and put that into whatever config file the local distribution uses).
