If I am understanding you correctly, using the REST interfaces that you
mentioned, I should be able to query OpenWFE from Orbeon Forms to
determine the work flow. I'll investigate this further.

If I understood them correctly, the Formsplayer guys did interact with
OpenWFE via its REST interfaces.
The worklist REST interface is detailed at :

The other REST interface connects directly to the OpenWFE engine (not
the worklist), there's no formal documentation for it.
