Another test yields that I am, in fact, able to execute arbitrary Ruby.

This is quite awesome.

I apology for the newbie - sounding questions. Normally I am a little better with the question-asking etiquette.

If I pull my CSV table in from another file, in what context will
the ruby be evaluated?
It will be evaluated in the same context as if it came from a ":table =>  s" 
String.
