ruote-amqp looks a bit complex to install, at least the server side.
It's fairly easy using daemon-kit - you need git HEAD versions of things AFAIUI.
hint .../lib/sample.py is where your code goes...
after:
engine = Ruote::Engine.new(....
put a
RuoteAMQP::WorkitemListener.new( engine )
I'm in the middle of penning a HOWTO though if you want to wait...
