I should be able to start working on this feature soon, but I cannot provide a precise estimate because priorities are evolving rapidly depending on many factors. I know some people are implementing this feature on their own <https://github.com/DimPolissiou/django-devices> (openwisp2 is extensible and python developers can do this quite easily), although these customisations may not be included in openwisp2 unless some serious cleanup and automated testing is done before sending a pull request.
