Hi everyone,

yesterday the GSOC coding period has officially begun. Students are busy
working on their project and development is moving forward rapidly.

I've created milestones and issues on github for every student, but all of
you can help me to refine the information presented in each issue and
improve the way we organize our work.

The first deadline and subsequent evaluation will be between 25 and 28th of
June.
I hope it is clear to everyone what you have to complete by the first
deadline, if it's not, please get in touch with me so we can clarify.
In general, I expect you to produce a first basic working version of your
project by the end of this month. If we can issue a first release that's
even better, so we can start test it with real users.
We will use the subsequent months to improve the implementations and add
more advanced features.
You don't have a lot of time, 28 days will fly.

This month is crucial, if we work well in June, subsequent months will come
down more easily, consider also that by August you will be tired and your
mental energy will start to dry up.
So consider this month VERY IMPORTANT. Do not delay your work thinking that
you can catch up later.

We won't tolerate excuses or major delays, you will be evaluated by your
efforts, your results and your communication style.
If the overall balance of the evaluation is negative you will be failed.
But if we work well and communicate daily I'm sure you will all do a great
job.

Keys to success:

   - deliver the results expected in the GSoC proposal / project idea
   - communicate roadblocks very early
   - submit your work for review asap
   - if you get stuck on something, find something else to work on
   - seek help both here in the OpenWISP community but also elsewhere on
(IRC channels like #django, #lede-dev, #python, stackoverflow or whatever
   other support channel you like)

Good luck
Federico
