Hello and welcome, it all boils down to the SSL/TLS library used. Since most routers and embedded devices have limited space, firmware designer should choose one such library and stick to it.
Leaving out openwisp-config-nossl which may be good only for development, when choosing between the remaining 3 it's just a matter of asking "which SSL/TLS library do we want to use?". If you don't suffer for extreme space limitations and you want to go for the most common one, go for openssl.
