Hi, I already posted this message to openwrt-users few days ago but I got no answer there. Since support for the hardware concerned is under development at the moment I guessed it would be a good idea to repost here; sorry if this is not exactly good manner. Best VulK
Hi all, this is my first post to this mailing-list. I have a Westell versalink 750015 that I received from Verizon (USA) and I really would like to replace the current firmware with openwrt. Here are the specs of the board I could guess looking at it: main chip: broadcom bcm6358skfbg wireless: broadcom bcm4318ekfbc, sige 2521a80 ethernet: broadcom bcm5325ekqmg ram: 256 Mb DDR SDRAM 333 rom: M29w320 (32Mbit) and M29w160 (16Mbit) On the board there are four slots for possible ports: one looks like a jtag (14 pins in 2 rows) one looks like a serial (4 pins in a row) and other two I could not guess: six pins in 2 rows and 4 pins in 2 rows. >From the wiki it seems that almost all of the hardware is supported (or will be supported by the development branch) so I decided to solder a serial port on the board, attached you may find a complete log of what I got from there. There is no possibility to access the router via telnet nor ssh and even the serial port will not accept any input. Any other idea on how can I get a shell? The firmware I have on it is 5.0.0.4; it was not available from westell website but lately they released it (mostly source code) together with some newer version which will not compile (the kernel has some problem with an assembler declaration which I had no time to check). You may find the firmware here: http://www.westell.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=838&arcsection=support Which should be my next move? I think there is no possibility to upload a firmware via tftp since there is no CFE so I will have to try via the web interface. Is there any way to have a secure backup of the firmware I have at this point so that I can debrick the router if something goes wrong?
