It seems to be a feature (problem?) in the script ./scripts/feeds.
When creating a repo the script uses 'git clone --depth 1'. Not
sure why that was changed.
Git commit f60f028f94aa9c00aa575fa6865717cfe5810253 introduced
the --depth option:
cleanups, small fixes and improvements for the feeds script
