Hello,

I have successfully flashed the wr741nd OpenWRT image on the virtually
identical (but even lower cost) TP-Link wr740N and documented the process
here:

    http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr740n

Currently, the TP-Link interface refuses to flash the wr741nd image as a
check, presumably based on the model string, fails. An OpenWRT image built by
search/replacing all (at least most) wr741nd strings with wr740n in the source
however gets past this check, but fails to boot on machine detection.

Now I am wondering: What would be involved in the creation of a minimally
adjusted wr741nd image that gets past the TP-Link interface check to allow
flashing without soldering serial headers?

Kind regards

Gabriel Wicke
