For a better user-experience it would be nice have some kind of aliasing of
boards, i.e. adding extra machtypes and adding several *_MACHINE( ... ) calls so
/proc/cpuinfo shows what is on the sticker on case and openwrt can identify the
actual device in userspace.
This is an advantage as board-setup code can often be shared between devices
actually using the same board but might yet differ a bit (usb populated?,
vendor-firmware sysupgrade image format, ...)
I agree that poluting machtypes where they are scarce and/or officially
maintained doesn't make sense, but that isn't the case on various MISP-targets
as far as I can judge.
(In other words: If you agree, I'll post patches adding machtypes for some
ar71xx and ramips based devices as well as image Makefile stuff for them)
